I was one of the lucky ones.

Being “struck sober” isn’t super common in the world of addiction. But I believe it happened to me because of my absolute relentlessness to discover my soul’s purpose. (You might be asking yourself right now, “What in the world does this chick’s journey of sobriety have to do with business? Well, quite simply, everything. Read on, allow me to explain…) As a born entrepreneur with a desire for freedom in all the ways (not just in the money way, but in the limiting beliefs way, the bondage of mind way, etc…) I woke up every day asking myself, "What am I supposed to be working on? How do I figure it all out??” The question ate me alive (and kept me drunk) for years.

As the confusion mounted in my overcrowded mind, I was struck by a thought, and a brief moment of crystal clarity flashed like lightning between my eyes. “If I behave the way I did last year on this year’s trip to Mexico, my husband will leave me. I cannot drink. I can’t not drink. Shit.”

I stood there, feet glued to the floor, heart thumping, under the enormous weight of my decision. The choice I was given contained within it the clarity I’d been so hellbent to find.  Get help, get sober, and you’ll receive more than you’ve ever wanted, or tell no one you had this revelation, continue drinking, and risk never discovering the key to living a life of depth and meaning.

It was a risk I wasn’t willing to take. I had to know my purpose. There was no turning back now. I made my decision. A new dawn had finally arrived, and the horizon was so clear. That day, I was relieved of my obsession to drink…I was what they call “struck sober.”  And in that relief, I knew I’d finally found the path to clarity I’d been after for so long, God. (If this word doesn’t work for you, feel free to switch it out for one that does.)

The next morning I cried non-stop through my very first 12-step meeting. I sobbed as the answers to life I’d been asking for so long were revealed in one swift message. “Clear yourself of all past negative energy to connect with your Higher Power. Ask your Higher Power to guide you in every endeavor, big or small, and everything you could ever want, hope for, or desire will come to pass.”

Since that transformative day in May 2019, I’ve lived that message to the best of my ability, and the promises have 100% come true. I’m living a life second to none, and it just seems to get better every day. Life isn’t perfect, but I know how to stay true to myself and make the next right choice that will further fulfill my soul’s purpose because I now know myself…through God.

I’ve built a business that provides value, depth, and meaning to my clients and to me as well. I no longer see my business as something to conquer but as a unique road to spiritual expansion. Every pivot, tough client, personal doubt, and beautiful “win” is a new opportunity to connect. To ask, to thank, to sit with the highs and lows, and to experience joy for the journey at such heights you might feel like your heart will burst.

This is my life now, and can easily be yours too. I consider myself one of the lucky ones. If you’ve read this far, chances are, so are you. It’s nice to meet you.
